Song Saturday: Enigma Block

How's it going lurkers? In case I did not make myself clear these last several times for the narrow-minded and nitpicky, I listen to a wide variety of music.

Just because there is mostly Rock Music shared on here, does not mean I listen to ONLY 1 music genre or sub-genre.

Speaking of Rock Music, what I have already shared on here for Song Saturday blogs have been pretty tame. Eventually, I'll start sharing heavier music like I used to play on my radio show.

I have already shared "Nu-Metal," Industrial Metal, Dark Trance, Belgian Acid House, Hard Rock, Grunge, J-Rock, J-Pop, Goth-Punk, Pop, etc. etc.

Today I have some music videos by Enigma. Within the last 6-24 years, I am sure you have heard Enigma's songs but didn't know it. Romanian Music Composer/Producer, Michael Cretu said on his website:

"Enigma is not an artist and it’s not a group. It’s a project, an idea... The people will like it without knowing anything about it, without any information...I wanted the music to speak for itself...It is music for everybody. It’s intellectual but it has a very simple naive feeling."

If you are interested in learning more about Enigma, visit the official website. In the following link, Michael Cretu explains more about Enigma's 1990 debut album:

The Fall Of A Rebel Angel

This "musical project" can be labeled as Worldbeat, New Age, Downtempo, Electronica, and Experimental Music.

Enigma has been featured on numerous TV and movie soundtracks, as well as used in movie trailers, over the years.

When Cretu released Enigma's debut album, MCMXC a.D in 1990, it internationally won over 57 platinum awards and reached the top of charts in 41 countries.

MCMXC a.D is the Roman numeral for the year of the debut album's release, which was in 1990.

MCMXC a.D became so popular, the producers of the Erotic Thriller, Sliver wanted Cretu to compose the entire soundtrack in 1993.

Because Michael Cretu was unable to compose the movie's soundtrack, he declined. However, he DID compose "Carly's Song."

"Carly's Song" was eventually remixed as "Age of Loneliness" on Enigma's 1993 album, The Cross of Changes.

Meanwhile, "Sadeness" was mostly used on General Hospital during the mid-90's for Sonny and Brenda's sex scenes.

"Sadeness" was renamed and is mostly known as "Sadness." "Sadeness" has a very sultry sound. The song is about "questioning" Marquis de Sade's erotic fantasies.

If you do NOT  know about Marquis de Sade, he was the French libertine founder AND writer of sexual sadism. "Sadeness" is 1 of Enigma's most popular songs.

The song is still used on TV and in movies. The same applies for "Return To Innocence."

Personally, I've always thought and still believe that Enigma's "Return To Innocence" is highly overrated and overused. Not that "Return To Innocence" is a bad song, but Enigma has MUCH better songs than "Return To Innocence."

It has been featured on The Outer Limits, My So-Called Life, Cold Case, The L Word, and American Idol.

"The Eyes of Truth," on the other hand, has only been used in movie trailers for The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Matrix. That song is MUCH better than "Return To Innocence."

"The Principles of Lust" is better than "Return To Innocence" hands down. If memory serves me right, MTV supposedly banned the music video for "The Principles of Lust" because it depicted an ORGY.  Oh, the horror!

When did MTV start attracting uptight nuns and prudes for viewers with all their risque music videos and TV shows?

Considering that network's rap sheet of premiering horrible soft-core porn shows dating back to the 1990's, I find this hilarious. MTV continues to air soft-porn with The Real World cast members having threesomes and open relationships.

Now that I think about it, MTV sometimes played Enigma's songs on The Real World, during the '90s! I mean, REALLY? Talk about some bullshit.

With all that being said, this Song Saturday will be an Enigma block with music videos from the "musical project's" debut album, MCMXC a.D.

In addition, "The Eyes of Truth" is from Enigma's 2nd album, The Cross of Changes.

According to Michael Cretu, he considers MCMXC a.D. to be the father and The Cross of Changes to be the mother. Anyway, I hope you are able to and continue to be open-minded by enjoying these music videos.

1) Enigma "The Voice of Enigma" MCMXC a.D. (1990)

2) Enigma "Sadeness" MCMXC a.D. (1990)
3) Enigma "The Principles of Lust" MCMXC a.D. (1991)

4) Enigma "Mea Cula Part II" (Orthodox Mix) MCMXC a.D. (1991)
5) Enigma "The Voice & The Snake" MCMXC a.D. (1991)

6) Enigma "Knocking on Forbidden Doors" MCMXC a.D. (1991)
7) Enigma "The Eyes of Truth" The Cross of Changes (1994)

Do you have a favorite Enigma song? Let me know what you think!

Cartoon Sunday: Beavis and Butt-Head Shorts

How's it going lurkers? I happened to find 2 Beavis And Butt-Head shorts from 1992. I had no idea until now, that Beavis And Butt-Head had any shorts.

During middle school, I was that "weird girl," who watched this controversial cartoon. It was taboo in the 1990's for any girl to watch Beavis And Butt-Head because the characters were stupid, perverted, politically incorrect, violent, disgusting, had low IQ's, etc.

After conducting some research as a woman in her early 30's, I recently discovered that Beavis And Butt-Head was actually an adult cartoon much like Æon Flux and a few others.

They were adult cartoons on MTV's Liquid Television Animation block. Said MTV animation block was literally a decade before the launching of Adult Swim.

In 1993, I remember Pat Robertson from The 700 Club and media watchdog groups demonizing Beavis And Butt-Head for their violent behaviors and dangerous stunts.

Supposedly, a negligent mother used the cartoon as a scapegoat for why her 5-year-old arsonist sat their mobile home on fire. The fire resulted in his 2-year-old sister's death.

It was terrible what happened to that toddler. All the while, their neighbors said the family did NOT own any cable TV. Therefore, the dead toddler's careless mother not only smeared MTV's Beavis And Butt-Head, but she also wanted to act like she and her precious arsonist were victims.

Anytime a kindergartener intentionally sat his own house and baby sister on fire, chances were highly great, that he was NOT going to be any asset to society.

Careless parents and media watchdog groups' tendencies to demonize MTV's adult cartoon led to 2 different TV disclaimers.

Beavis And Butt-Head Disclaimer #1

Beavis And Butt-Head Disclaimer #2

During Beavis And Butt-Head's 5th season, the writers of the cartoon mocked media watchdog groups by making episode 114, "Lightning Strikes."

Beavis And Butt-Head's "Lightning Strikes" illustrated exactly how media watchdog groups smear, condemn, and demonize entertainment, in order to have something newsworthy and/or "trendy."

These media watchdog groups and Christian zealots can smear, condemn, and demonize Beavis And Butt-Head all they want.

The creator/voice actor, Mike Judge helped influence both South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Beavis And Butt-Head helped pave the way for most adult animation that exists on local AND cable networks today.

During the glory days of MTV, which was when the network still predominantly aired music television, most MTV viewers like moi LOVED Beavis And Butt-Head.

The characters were 2 illiterate, socially incompetent, juvenile delinquents that usually sat on a couch watching TV, while criticizing music videos.

My family sometimes watched Beavis And Butt-Head and laughed at their low IQ'ed antics with me.

There was an episode, which showed Butt-Head throwing a garbage can and it knocked Beavis unconscious, in his back yard. My mom laughed so hard, she cried tears that night. It was that hilarious.

As I became older, I met some teenagers, who sometimes made Beavis and Butt-Head look like complete geniuses. This is something appalling to believe but it is the awful truth.

Anytime 2 stupid cartoons characters appear to have higher IQ's than real life people, we CANNOT help rolling our eyes and face palming, while simultaneously laughing at them. Even though I am a 32-year-old woman, I still enjoy Beavis And Butt-Head 2 decades later.

If a man my age or a little older than me dares to say, "I'm so over this show. That was from years ago," you have my permission to pimp slap him across the face. That guy is acting like an absolutely pompous, piece of shit.

Beavis and Butt-Head could also out twerk Miley Cyrus. Come to think about it, Miley was only shitting in her diapers, when this adult cartoon premiered on MTV in 1993.

BTW:  Twerking was supposedly founded in 1982. It didn't become more popular, until the '90s and early 21st Century.

In the original Beavis And Butt-Head shorts from Liquid Television, there weren't any music videos. Music videos were only added to the cartoon, once it moved to MTV.

So, here are the 2 Beavis And Butt-Head shorts, "Frog Baseball" and "Peace, Love and Understanding" for Cartoon Sunday.

1) Beavis And Butt-Head "Frog Baseball" (1992)

2) Beavis And Butt-Head "Peace, Love and Understanding" (1992)

Cartoon Sunday: Æon Flux Shorts

How's it going lurkers? Last Sunday, I mentioned all the cartoons I watched on MTV's Liquid Television Animation block during my adolescence.

Æon Flux was a Liquid Television Animation favorite of mine. In 1991, Æon Flux originally began as a 6-episode animated short created by Korean American animator, Peter Chung.

It wasn't until 7th grade, nearly 20 years ago, that I began watching Æon Flux. Yes, I know I'm dating myself by telling you this, but I don't care. Besides, we are in the middle of Mercury Retrograde right now. Therefore, I'm bound to feel somewhat nostalgic.

As I was saying, Æon Flux is an Avant-Garde Science Fiction Animation that aired on MTV, during the early to mid-90's.

Since the mid-90's, I was never really sure if Æon Flux was an Anime or simply a cartoon with abstract illustrations.

Recently, I checked Anime News Network to see if it was listed as an Anime. Sure enough, it is!

Anime in Japanese means Japanese Animation. Even though Japan has their own style of animation, the same can especially be said about China and Korea. However, their style of animation looks MUCH like Japan's.

In addition, Chung created the character designs for the animated series, Phantom 2040, which used a similar animation style as Æon Flux. Æon Flux did not become a complete series until 1995, which was also the same year the series ended.

In 2003, there was a Hollywood film adaptation in production for the live action version of Æon Flux. I remember it being temporarily delayed because Charlize Theron injured herself, while doing her own stunts for the character, Æon Flux.

Then, in December 2005, the movie released in theaters. I didn't get a chance to go see the Æon Flux film. During that time, I was in the last semester of my college senior year and at my sickest in life with a severe health scare.

For years, I really wanted to see the movie because the media kept praising Charlize Theron in it.

It was not until several years ago, that I finally watched the Æon Flux movie. Wow! That was an absolute disappointment. Talk about the media overhyping a movie.

Anytime Peter Chung called the movie, which was supposed to be based on Æon Flux's animation a "travesty," it's THAT  bad. In fact, he expressed more in detail:

"I was unhappy when I read the script four years ago; seeing it projected larger than life in a crowded theatre made me feel helpless, humiliated, and sad. ... [The movie's creators] claim to love the original version; yet they do not extend that faith to their audience. No, they will soften it for the public, which isn't hip enough to appreciate the raw, pure, unadulterated source like they do."

The movie sparked a lot of controversy because we as fans of the Æon Flux animation HATED the film. The Æon Flux movie physically beared very little resemblance to the cartoon, when it came to casting characters and the overall script.

Because the creators of the animated short and series had zero involvement with the movie, it was like having to endure someone's shitty fan fiction.

It's not that Charlize Theron is a terrible actress. Hollywood filmmakers white washing and re-writing the histories of each character and the overall story received the MOST complaints.

For example, the character Una was NOT Æon's sister in the series. Una was her old friend.

Also, Trevor Goodchild did NOT  have a long lost brother named Oren, and Trevor was NOT  married to the protagonist, Æon.

Æon and Trevor always had a love/hate relationship in the animation. It's unclear in the animated shorts. However, in the cartoon, their relationship is better explained. It is best to watch the entire Æon Flux animation than the movie.

Since there is no dialogue in the 6 shorts, I have a highly graphic and detailed summary for you. The story begins with the famous scene where Æon catches a fly with her eyelashes.

Then, there is a war between Monican agents and Breen forces. Meanwhile, Æon massacres dozens of soldiers on her quest to assassinate a Breen Official.

Most of the soldiers are already sick and dying from a strange disease carried by an Azure Beetle.

As hundreds of soldiers die in the sewers, Trevor Goodchild finds and carries 1 of the beetles, hides it in his finger, and carries it with his "lover" to the rooftop.

The rooftop is also around the same area where Æon’s target is sleeping. While going that direction, Æon sees Trevor and his so-called "lover" engaged in some kinky ear foreplay and more.

As Æon retreats, Trevor uses the infectious toxin from the Azure Beetle to create an antidote.

First, he uses it on himself and his lover. Next, Æon goes to the rooftop, while being oblivious to acquiring a thumb tack. The thumb tack in the sole of her boot is from a loose cable fastening.

While Æon prepares to muder her victim, she unknowingly stabs her foot with the tack, and falls off the building to her death. The Monican authorities destroy Æon's body and burn her apartment.

Then, Trevor Goodchild is hailed as a "hero" for developing a cure for the virus.

In the season finale, a boy buys a foot fetish magazine with Æon on the cover tickling her own foot.

All the while, she goes into this bizarre heaven where a spirit tickles her feet as seen on the magazine cover.

Song Saturday: Lacuna Coil Block {With Their Better Songs}

How's it going lurkers? Last October, I published a Song Saturday blog featuring the Italian Goth Rock/Metal band, Lacuna Coil. While helping my uncle with his on/off again company last year, I listened to Lacuna Coil's Dark Adrenaline album. As much as I love the band, their earlier albums from 1999 to 2002 were and still are the best.

Lacuna Coil's 2002 album, Comalies became mainstream 1 year later. I loved that album. I listened to Lacuna Coil's earlier albums such as In a Reverie (1999) and Unleashed Memories (2001), during my years in college because of Comalies.

Before, during, and after I graduated from Carthage College in 2006, Lacuna Coil's single, "Our Truth" was featured on the Underworld: Evolution Soundtrack. "Our Truth" was also featured on the band's 2006 album, Karmacode. It's a decent song as well as their song, "Within Me." However, I really don't care for Karmacode and the rest of Lacuna Coil's more recent albums.

I hate saying that Lacuna Coil "sold out," but in a way they did sell out. Their more recent albums sound nothing like their earlier albums. Then again, Ozzfest is somewhat "The Kiss Of Death" for most Metal and Hard Rock bands.

It's great that Ozzfest helped give obscure bands more exposure. At the same time, their music completely changes after they reach their pinnacles.

After those bands change their sound, they soon begin to lose their integrity by pandering to the wrong audience. I understand that bands must evolve in sound over the years, but...

If it's not broken, why fix it?

Take KoRn, for example. Their music was enjoyable, until they reached their pinnacle in 1999. Then, KoRn became a Shit Sandwich.

Even though I still like 3/5 the original band members, I haven't bought a KoRn album, since I was a teenager in the late '90s. Their music has become unrecognizable.

The same most definitely applies to some of the original band members' personalities (*cough-cough* "Head's" for example). Talk about being pretentious and self-righteous, since he has now found Jesus. Don't even get me started.

At least I can't say this for Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro (I'm really more of a Cristina Scabbia fan). I still like them as people even though I do miss the band's earliest sound.

This Song Saturday is a LENGTHY  block of Lacuna Coil's songs between 1999 and 2002.

Before listening to the block, here's an interview Cristina Scabbia did with Mike DiQuinzio of JAM Magazine.

JAM Magazine: Mike DiQuinzio Interviews Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia {NEW} (2014)

The following songs are from their albums In a Reverie, Unleashed Memories, and the album that made the Goth Metal band popular, Comalies.

1) Lacuna Coil "My Wings" In a Reverie (1999)

2) Lacuna Coil "To Myself I Turned" In a Reverie (1999)

3) Lacuna Coil "To Live Is To Hide" Unleashed Memories (2001)
4) Lacuna Coil "Senzafine" Unleashed Memories (2001)
5) Lacuna Coil "Cold Heritage" Unleashed Memories (2001)

6) Lacuna Coil "Lost Lullaby" Unleashed Memories (2001)
7) Lacuna Coil "Aeon"/"Tight Rope" Comalies (2002)
8) Lacuna Coil "Entwined" Comalies (2002)
9) Lacuna Coil "Comalies" Comalies (2002)

Pre-Teen Sociopaths Stab Friend, Then Blame Slender Man For It

How's it going lurkers? What I'm about to tell you will either anger, or frighten you and/or will possibly make you a skeptic.

On Saturday, I had a disturbing dream. It was like a flashback to 1994, when I was ONLY  12 years old living in our previous house in Wauwatosa, WI.

In bed, I felt someone STABBING me with the sound of a young girl screaming as if she was being MURDERED. Blood splattered across the ceiling.

Feeling all the impact of the stabbing and hearing the girl's scream, I woke up.

On Monday, I turned on my TV. There was "late-breaking news" about two 12-year-old girls from Waukesha, WI, who brutally stabbed their so-called "friend" 19 TIMES!!!

Our local news reporters considered the details "too graphic" for TV.

Hearing the appalling news report made my heart sink from shock. It was TOO similar to the dream I had on Saturday. Online, I read more about the grisly stabbing.

FOX 6 Now: Two girls accused of plotting to kill friend, victim stabbed 19 times

Could the grisly details be an EERIE coincidence or a premonition in the form of a disturbing dream?

I could've had another premonition in the form of a horrific dream. Before any patronizing skeptics ask, "Do you REALLY believe in premonitions?"  The answer is YES.

I could sit here behind my laptop and explain every premonition, death warning, and near death experience, that I've had as well as explain other people's experiences, but I won't.

Besides, I know those, who don't believe in ANYTHING (whether it be a higher power OR documented facts with research to support my claims), would rather deny, minimize the truth, and patronize me with their insults.

Our reporters here in WI reported, that those evil 12-year-olds frequented the website, CREEPYPASTA.COM, since last December.

It's so typical, that the media and brainwashed ignorami for adults are quick to demonize a HORROR website.

You may consider this an eerie coincidence with what I am about to tell you. Last December, I ALSO visited Creepypasta out of curiosity, since I am a Horror author. Because I simply loathe copycats and Fan Fiction, I never joined that site.

According to Wikia:

"Creepypastas are essentially internet horror stories, passed around on forums and other sites to disturb and frighten readers. The name "Creepypasta' comes from the word 'copypasta,' an internet slang term for a block of text that gets copied and pasted over and over again from website to website. Creepypastas are sometimes supplemented with pictures, audio and/or video footage related to the story, typically with gory, distorted, or otherwise shocking content."

You can read more about Creepypasta at Creepypasta Wiki: What Is Creepypasta?

In a nutshell, Creepypasta is a Fictitious Horror Site in which Horror fans ages 18 AND OLDER submit their "work." Therefore, no one under the age of 18 should be visiting the site.

Those 12-year-old sociopaths are using an Internet Horror Urban Legend about "Slender Man" as their scapegoat for stabbing their "friend" 19 times. Isn't that typical?

If you want to learn more about Slender Man, watch the following vlog:

More About Slender Man: (2013)

During high school 15 years ago, I predicted that girls would be next to commit school shootings, stabbings, massacres, etc. Then, use entertainment as their scapegoats.

As those sociopathic killers in training use entertainment as a scapegoat for trying to murder their "friend," they make people's lives harder. This especially applies to us as entertainers.

Killers do NOT care about the fact, that they are ruining people's lives, including their own. They ESPECIALLY do not care about ruining entertainment.

Entertainers suffer from the guilt of other people's deaths accompanied by lawsuits and smear campaigns.

While sane people share the same hobbies as said sociopaths and those suffering from other mental illnesses and/or behavioral problems, we are all condemned, demonized, and ostracized for our hobbies.

Whenever a shooting, bombing, attempted murder, or some other kind of atrocity and tragedy happens, entertainment and entertainers are instantly to blame.

Horror used to be a niche genre. Decades ago, Anti-Horror fans always condemned and demonized the genre and its fanbase. This can especially be said for the Slasher Horror sub-genre and its fans.

The crimes in Slashers can actually happen in real life compared to crimes committed by Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies, and other creatures found in various folklores.

Media watchdog groups, self-righteous "political activists," as well as religious and "family friendly" zealots continue to demonize entertainment, including the Horror genre for the "extreme violence."

Throughout the 1980's and early '90s, the Slasher Horror sub-genre was repeatedly condemned and demonized.

Critics, media watchdog groups, Christian zealots, and miltant mommies demonizing the sub-genre caused filmmakers to automatically send their movies directly to video, which helped contribute to the overall Horror genre's decline.

It was not until Wes Craven's SCREAM in 1996, that the Slasher sub-genre was said to be "reborn."

In the 21st Century, Horror is more acceptable than it was 2-3 decades ago. When I was still in college, Hollywood began advertising PG-13 rated Horror.

If memory serves me right, some of them were remakes, which had their original ratings changed from an R to PG-13.

Parents/guardians, teachers/professors, local, national, and international news are sensational at condemning, demonizing, and framing entertainment, as the crime rate increases by the seconds.

Entertainment is condemned and demonized for every massacre, atrocity, and tragedy, regardless if said adults and children are sane or sociopathic killers.

Adults refuse to acknowledge their irresponsibilities in educating children by quickly accusing entertainment, as the media instigates more hysteria.

The more local, national, and international news heavily publicize massacres, the more copycat murderers and terrorists feel the need to upstage the previous mass killings.

Ignorami will condemn and demonize an entertainer for somebody choosing to jump off a bridge. Heaven forbid the village idiot chose to jump off a bridge and was of "sound mind!" Slandering an entertainer or entertainment in general sounds better!

Ugh! Talk about some Short Bus Riders.

Honestly, more entertainers should start fighting harder against careless parents, teachers, and divisive media outlets by slapping them with lawsuits for slander.

Why should entertainers and sane fans have to suffer the negative repercussions for sociopathic serial killers?

As a Horror/Crime Thriller author, I find the negativity bias to be I highly discouraging and infuriating. The current story, that I keep backburning, is a Horror Story.

Having to constantly hear and read slanderous remarks from haters of both genres sometimes discourages me as an author.

I don't want or need my name and reputation sullied over sociopaths blaming me for their choices to commit murder.

If parents/guardians and educators pay more attention to children with severe mental and/or behavior disorders, there would be less crime.

Nobody, including self-righteous politicians can bring up the topic of "gun control" because those serial killers in the making from Waukesha, WI used KNIVES instead. That's the only positive to this recent atrocity.

However, I do somewhat give those 12-year-old girls credit. Rather than using the stereotypical guns or making bombs, they used a kitchen knife to stab their so-called "friend" 19 times.

Sociopaths like those 2 girls are exactly why abortions and the death penalty exist.

Since they are mature enough to attempt murder on their "friend," they are old enough to be fried in electric chairs. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly.

Put those 12-year-old sociopaths in electric chairs!

I'm not stupid enough to believe in an online boogeyman as their scapegoat for stabbing their "friend" 19 times.

Do you agree with me? What are your thoughts? Let me know what you think!

Cartoon Sunday: Anna H's Gateway To Anime (Robotech)

How's it going lurkers? Last week, I learned that Swimnami acquired the rights to Dragon Ball Kai. Most DBZ sycophants and zealots are surely rejoicing, while some of us Swimnami viewers cringe.

When Toonami originally launched on Cartoon Network in 1997, I refused to watch Dragon Ball Z. In 1997, I was 15 years old.

Most animation I watched, during the 1990's as a teenage girl were a part of MTV's Liquid Television Animation and Cartoon Sushi blocks. The blocks consisted of Beavis And Butt-Head, MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch, Downtown, Daria, Æon Flux, The Maxx, and MTV's Oddities: The Head.

It really was not until Cartoon Network premiered Sailor Moon, that I started watching the Toonami block. I was originally exposed to Anime in the 1980's as a toddler, when Robotech premiered on local TV networks.

Robotech In Japan (1982-1984)

During the 1980's, Cartoon Network never existed. Millennials and Xennials my age, as well as Gen Xers WERE exposed to Japanese animation years before the Dragon Ball franchise.

Of all the franchises, Adult Swim chose to placate the Dragon Ball fanbase and fandom by purchasing Dragon Ball Kai.

Buying Dragon Ball Kai was the only way to stop nostalgic zealots from throwing their toddler tantrums. The portions I have seen of Dragon Ball are racist and generic-looking in illustration. The franchise is also just as obnoxious as its zealots and sycophants.

Most DBZ zealots have this tendency to hold that franchise on a pedestal, as if it's the best Anime to ever exist.

The zealots from the Dragon Ball franchise don't seem to grasp that they make some other Dragon Ball fans feel ashamed to be fans of the franchise and Anime in general.

I understand that DBZ was their so-called "Gateway to Anime." Meanwhile, there are adults like me, who watched other Anime long before the Dragon Ball franchise existed. As I already said, Robotech was my "Gateway to Anime" during the 1980's.

In fact, Robotech was originally 1 of very few Mecha Space Opera Science Fiction Romance Anime to be televised in America.

Once Sailor Moon premiered on Toonami, that was when I became more invested in Cartoon Network and its Action Animation block. Otherwise, I didn't care about Toonami.

Before watching Sailor Moon and the Toonami block, I watched The Sci Fi Channel (before it became The Syfylis Channel).

The Sci Fi Channel aired Anime films such as Akira and Project A-ko, for examples.

It was not until my college junior year that I started watching more Anime, which was mostly on Adult Swim.

Throughout the rest of my 20's, I watched and streamed 100's of Anime both on TV and online.

Cartoon Network and Adult Swim typically overlook better Anime. Even though I still watch Anime in my early 30's, I don't watch nearly as much anymore.

Nowadays, most of my time is spent on juggling social media sites, blogging, watching other shows outside of Japanese animation (not that I did not already), and of course managing It's Not All Gumdrops & Unicorns, when I am not sleeping and job hunting.

Last week, I located Jason DeMarco on Stalkbook Facebook. I personally sent him a message about potential Anime that are worth premiering on Adult Swim's so-called Toonami block. Did he get my message or not is the burning question.

The following are 8 Anime that I suggested to Jason DeMarco:

1) Ghost Hunt (Supernatural Shojo)

2) Hell Girl [all 3 seasons] (Horror Shojo)

3) Vampire Knight (Horror/Romance Shojo)

4) Black Butler (Historical/Dark Humor Seinen Action)

5) The Hellsing franchise [both Anime series and OVA's] (Seinen Horror Action)

6) Kaze no Stigma (Shonen Action)

7) Tenjho Tenge [including the last 2 episodes] (Seinen Action)

8) Another (Seinen Horror Mystery)

Speaking of Robotech, I happened to find the series online. If Robotech wasn't such a complex Mecha Anime, I would explain more about it. Rather than me explaining the series, you can read about it for yourself. Anyway, this Cartoon Sunday, I present to you Robotech.

Robotech: The Macross Saga "Booby Trap" (Pilot)

So, what was your so-called "Gateway to Anime"?
