NOOO! There Are Too Many Horror Authors! Should I Switch Genres?

How's it going my lurkers? Happy Belated New Year! Before I became preoccupied offline, I originally planned to publish a blog wishing everyone a happy new year.

In case you missed my posts around social media and the e-mail notifications I sent to subscribers, I was sick during Christmas.

To make matters worse, my mother had a medical emergency literally 1 day AFTER Christmas. We had to call the ambulance.

While battling a cold, winter allergies, sinuses, etc. ~2 weeks ago, I hope you enjoyed those creepy yet festive blogs regarding Yule and Christmas as throwbacks. Honestly, I did not have a chance to enjoy Christmas, in case you are wondering.

Aside from those issues, I cannot help noticing how extremely saturated the Horror Industry has become over the last 10-15 years. It is amazing how an entertainment genre such as Horror has surged in popularity over this last decade.

Within my immediate family, my mother and I are the only Horror fans. Being born and raised during the early 1980's and '90s, when Slasher Horror was at its pinnacle yet constantly being condemned and demonized by media watchdog groups, critics, and Christian zealots, I grew up watching Horror.

As much as I enjoy watching TV shows and movies about the paranormal, vampires, witches, etc. the Slasher Horror sub-genre has always been my favorite.

The villains are more realistic and believable. Most people will tell you that vampires, zombies, ghouls, werewolves, and other types of monsters are not real. There are even those skeptics, who refuse to believe in the paranormal.

Serial killers, sociopaths, stalkers, psychopaths, and those with other mental/behavioral disorders on the other hand, DO exist in everyday life. I am not saying, that I don't believe in ghosts because I do.

However, there are still those skeptics regardless if they believe in a higher power or not, who deny that ghosts exist. This especially applies to certain skeptics, who need to prove everything based on SCIENCE.

Out of all the Horror sub-genres, the Slasher sub-genre is the most believable and realistic. I believe the Slasher sub-genre is hands down the most frightening because serial killers ARE real.

When it comes to Slashers, the serial killer is labeled as "The Moral Villain." If you have ever watched Wes Craven's Slasher Horror film, SCREAM within these last 22 years, you should remember Jamie Kennedy's character, Randy Meeks.

In SCREAM, Randy explained what people should NOT  do, in order to survive a Slasher Horror Movie.

SCREAM: Randy’s Rules For Successfully Surviving A Horror Movie (1996)

YouTube-SwKkaaXBNHU

The Moral Villain will typically serial kill obnoxious teenagers, who are abusing drugs, having pre-marital sex, and saying "I'll be right back." Slashers can also segue into the Thriller genre.

Characters with killer instincts and life-threatening mental disorders can be important traits in Thrillers. Some of these traits in villains help assemble Horror/Thrillers.

As an author, my stories would fall into both the Horror and Thriller genres.

On Thursday, I spoke with someone on the phone, who helps writers find publishers and literary agents. I informed her, that I built my own website, blog, and share blogs regularly.

In addition, I explained about the type of short stories I write. Even though NONE of my stories are about the stereotypical vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc. I mostly consider myself to be a Horror writer.

Stories about stalkers, misogynists, the abused, scorned women seeking revenge, etc. can be disturbing as well as frightening.

I would love to see my work published in a Horror anthology and under the category, Horror. At the same time, there will be those closed-minded critics saying, "You're not a Horror author. Horror has vampires, zombies, creatures, etc."

I would LOVE to have my work branded as Horror because there is a lot more to the genre than only monsters. Stories and films about vampires and zombies over this last decade have become so cliche.

Anything can be horrifying WITHOUT vampires, zombies, werewolves, monsters, etc. being involved.

Over these last few years, I was very surprised to learn, that more women are Horror authors. Much like music, the overall Horror genre was always male-dominated. The times really have changed.

I was always that "weird girl" growing up in school, who wrote Horror Stories dating back to 3rd grade. As I became a young woman, I wrote more of them.

Seeing how saturated and cliche the Horror genre has become today, I have contemplated whether or not to target the Thriller genre.

While speaking to that lady, who helps writers on Thursday, she suggested that I try submitting my stories to literary journals for the Thriller genre.

Both of us believe my short stories would be better suited for the Thriller genre than Horror. In some ways, the Thriller genre seems more versatile than Horror. Also, my work could appeal to other types of readers.

So, this is where YOU, my subscribers come in:

Those of you, who have read some of my short stories and excerpts, what are your thoughts? Do you think my stories belong in the Thriller genre or can they be categorized as Horror/Thriller?

Song Saturday: London After Midnight's Sacrifice

How's it going lurkers? It appears that a nice portion of you took quite a liking to last weekend's Song Saturday and Cartoon Sunday blogs, which I am glad. Therefore, I am sharing London After Midnight once again for Song Saturday. It has been a long time, since I last shared anything by LAM.

A previous Song Saturday blog from 2014, which featured the so-called "project" was updated yesterday.

It would be much better to refer to London After Midnight as a "band," but whatever. That's something to take up with the vocalist, Sean Brennan.

It also would've been much better, if LAM gained more exposure via traditional radio stations, during the 1990's.

During the '90s, Goth music, films, and shows were at their pinnacle in regards to entertainment exposure. At least it seemed that way, during my youth.

During the '90s, Live Action TV shows, cartoons, music, and movies really began to acknowledge Goths and our sub-culture. So, with that being said, I find it a BIT  disappointing that London After Midnight wasn't aired on traditional local radio stations, including those in my area.

I don't recall of ever browsing our CD shelves of music at 101.7 WIPZ and stumbling upon LAM. If any of this Goth band's music existed in our studio, I surely would've played them on my radio show, All Things Frightening.

It was not until summer break 2005, that I discovered London After Midnight through LAUNCHcast Radio. In 2005, I was attending my last year at Carthage College. Also, I was no longer hosting my radio show at UW-Parkside because I transferred to Carthage in 2004.

This was along with the fact, that I was feeling politically fatigued from most of entertainment 12-13 years ago. That was another major reason why I quit radio. Entertainment became too politicized.

Entertainers should spend MORE time ENTERTAINING us fans and LESS time acting like a bunch of militant, self-righteous, wannabe political activists ad nauseam at award shows, concerts, and other social/entertainment events.

I want to be ENTERTAINED. Politicizing entertainment and being self-righteous about politics are fantastic ways to alienate loyal fans and hurt an entertainer's paycheck. These wannabe political "activists" assume that EVERYONE shares their views about everything like sycophants, when in reality, everyone does NOT.

Most of what has been released and are still being released are heaping piles of shit.

And Hollywood entertainers wonder why nobody's buying their albums, shows, and movies?

Since we are back on the topic of the Goth Sub-culture, I want to emphasize that the sub-culture is NOT  meant for everyone.

At the risk of sounding like an "elitist," "purist," or "gatekeeper," lots of hipsters today are posing as Goths when they know absolutely nothing about the sub-culture and what it's like to endure being mocked, condemned, and demonized by the media, their watchdog groups, and Christian zealots for being Goth. Well, I digress.

In my previous Song Saturday blog about London After Midnight, I explained more about the "project," Sean Brennan's rant about social media, and my usual rants about social media and hipsters (just a smidge. Sorry, I can't it. Hipsters continuously ruin entertainment, food, religions, fashion, and sub-cultures, including the Goth Sub-culture).

In that same Song Saturday blog, there is a block of songs featured from LAM's 2nd album, Psycho Magnet.

Today we are going backwards by sharing a song from London After Midnight's debut album, Selected Scenes From The End Of The World.  There are at least 3-4 different versions of this album. Selected Scenes From The End Of The World originally released in 1992 with a purple album cover.

By 2003 and 2008, this exact same album was re-released in other colors such as blue and red for 2 more examples. Each version was re-released featuring bonus tracks, re-recordings, and more.

Anyway, rather than bore you to death with more details and personal rants, here is London After Midnight's "Sacrifice" for today's Song Saturday.

What Are Anna H's Thoughts About The Real O'Neals?

How's it going lurkers? Last night, I watched The Real O'Neals.

Throughout the last month or so, ABC constantly advertised, that this Irish American Catholic sitcom was supposed to be premiering March 8, 2016.

The Real O'Neals Promo (2016)

It was NOT  until signing back online, that I discovered that ABC already premiered its first 2 episodes LAST WEDNESDAY, on March 2nd. I never saw any TV promo about The Real O'Neals premiering, last Wednesday. So, I missed the pilot AND episode 2.

You may be thinking, "Well, you can always watch it online."

That's not always the case anymore with certain primetime shows. Normally, I watched missed episodes of other shows on Hulu or ABC.com.

Over the last few months, certain online streaming sites have changed their layouts and are now restricting outside viewers from watching their shows, UNLESS we're paying subscribers. That in itself is really annoying.

Otherwise, those companies want us to sign in using a social media account. Then, they can track and expose whatever we choose to watch with EVERYONE. It's not that we necessarily have any shows to hide. However, this somewhat feels like an invasion of our privacy.

Aside from those issues, I really like watching The Real O'Neals. It gives me another primetime show to watch, during the week. This is especially on ABC.

Shortly after Desperate Housewives ended 4 years ago, I stopped watching the network. It was NOT  until Fresh Off The Boat premiered last year, that I started watching ABC again.

Now, that The Real O'Neals airs right after Fresh Off The Boat, ABC gave me a full hour of their programming. ABC is NOT  a regular channel, that I watch unless I am watching the local news.

I barely stay awake to watch Dr. Oz anymore because his show airs, during what I like to call, "My Vampire Sleeping Hours."

As I was saying earlier, I really like watching The Real O'Neals for the humor about Irish American Catholics.

Speaking of Catholics, some are butt-hurt viewers ranting about the show. Their media watchdog groups tried getting The Real O'Neals canceled, before it could premiere on TV.

In fact, I stumbled upon this YouTube vlog condemning and demonizing The Real O'Neals because the vlogger CANNOT  handle any jokes about Irish Catholic Americans.

The Real O'Neals EXPOSED MOCKING CHRISTIANS! (2016)

In a way, I can somewhat understand why certain people would be EXTREMELY offended. ABC mostly has political propaganda on it, which panders to a certain political party. Also, Eileen O'Neal on The Real O'Neals is THE stereotypical and extremely judgmental Catholic Christian Mother with a dysfunctional family. Despite all of those issues, The Real O'Neals is a funny show.

For a while, I have been waiting to see it. After listening to the preceding vlogger, it only shows that he lives up to all those negative stereotypes about Christian zealots. THAT  YouTube vlogger makes other Christians, who ARE decent people, look ridiculous and brainwashed.

Yesterday, I saw the cast of The Real O'Neals defending their show.

The Real O'Neals Cast Stands By The Show After Criticism From Some Catholics (2016)

Honestly, I agree with the cast. Something that I found to be really interesting and convenient was that The Real O'Neals premiered in March because of Saint Patrick's Day being in March.

Last night, ABC pre-aired the show's Saint Patrick's Day episode.

Staring at The O'Neals' Saint Patrick's Day float was the hilarious scene, in last night's episode. At least it was for me, personally.

They dressed Satan like a leprechaun and put clovers around his eyes. If I had access to a clip or a photograph of Satan dressed for Saint Patrick's Day, I would gladly share it with you all.

As you already know, I enjoyed watching The Real O'Neals, last night after Fresh Off The Boat.

I can understand why some people would be offended. At the same time, the zealots should put on their big boy and girl pants and stop getting offended about EVERYTHING by learning how to take a joke.

Hopefully, ABC will NOT  cancel The Real O'Neals only to pander to tantrum throwing extremist groups.

Cartoon Sunday: Devil May Cry (Anime)

How's it going lurkers? You may recall that I mentioned publishing a lengthy blog on JournalHome, last week.

In case you missed it last Tuesday, I published a JournalHome blog about a rabid One Piece zealot, who posted death and rape threats on Adult Swim's Toonami sub-forum. There were 2 other Toonami posters he called out, that I had personal conflicts with in the past both on Adult Swim's forum and on Facebook.

Moose Goes Beserk On Adult Swim's Toonami Sub-forum (2015)

That Moose poster's rant was hilarious. In that same blog above, I addressed specific problems with Toonami sycophants, Weeaboos, and Anime Otakus.

If you have not already, I encourage you to read that blog, whenever you the chance.

Considering that I am already on the topic of this psychopath, he would be labeled a One Piece Tard. I was on YouTube earlier, and stumbled upon a video by YouTube vlogger, ForneverWorld. ForneverWorld gave an explanation about the differences between Anime tards and fanboys.

ForneverWorld Defines Anime Tards & Fanboys (2013)

After watching this YouTube vlog, I would consider myself to be an Anime fan. I never thought I was a fangirl or a tard. Since the time of watching Robotech as a toddler, during the mid-80's, I have always loved watching Japanese animation.

However, I DON'T  live and breathe Anime to the extent of committing murder, rape, or suicide over it unlike that Moose poster on the Toonami sub-forum. It seems like more people today have lost a grip on reality.

Originally, entertainment was meant to be "Escapism." Today's entertainment is mostly political propaganda. We can't enjoy anything for the sake of enjoying it. Political activists, media critics, watchdog groups, and even some educators are mostly to blame for ruining entertainment.

Their need to nitpick, politicize, and psychoanalyze everything to death is highly repulsive.

Yes, we SHOULD be able to analyze and comprehend what we are reading, watching, and listening to. At the same time, we should STILL be able to enjoy books, movies, shows, and music. They are called "entertainment" for a reason!

Sometimes I ask myself, "Was joining ____ forum a good idea?"

Within the last 1-6 years, I have only joined 2 entertainment forums. I always believed it would be great to socialize with people online, who supposedly shared the same interests and views as mine about favorite shows. So far, it hasn't been that great of an experience.

Don't get wrong, I really do enjoy talking to other fans and I especially miss some of my old friends from the last forum we joined, before it shut down.

All the while, certain fandoms CAN be insufferable tards about certain characters, shows, actors, voice actors, etc. It makes some of us fans of a certain genre(s) feel ashamed to be fans of them. That is the major problem. This especially applies to being an Anime fan.

Much like it was to be a Horror fan decades ago, being an Anime fan is frowned upon. Anime and Horror have been demonized for decades because people outside of both genres were brainwashed into believing we are sociopathic extremists.

I am both an Anime and Horror fan. Therefore, I have the worst of both worlds. Some will assume I'm a homicidal maniac over my Anime and Horror. That's not including a "devil worshiper." Gotta love it.

Because I am already on the topics of both Anime and Horror, I have the Seinen Horror Action Anime, Devil May Cry for today. Devil May Cry is based on the Capcom Video Game. I have never played any of the video games because I'm not a gamer.

Despite that, I remember watching a YouTube vlog 3 years ago and learned that the creator of the video games changed Dante's physical appearance. He used to have white hair. Now, his hair's black.

In the Devil May Cry Anime, Dante is a part demon and human mercenary. He is also a struggling business owner, who specializes in hunting demons.

Based on what I learned, when I originally watched Devil May Cry years ago, the series had introduced 2 newer characters (J.D. Morrison and Patty Lowell). J.D. Morrison is Dante's agent, who finds Dante jobs and Patty Lowell is the orphaned heiress, that Dante saves. Anyway, here is Devil May Cry.

'Tis The Season For Christmas Slashers [Anna H's Review]

How's it going lurkers? As I already said in the previous Song Saturday blog, I have a blog review about Christmas Slashers.

With me being so busy doing last minute Christmas shopping, watching Christmas Slashers, etc. I did not have enough time to publish my review, sooner.

Orthodox Christians don't celebrate Christmas Day, until January 7, 2015.

Therefore, I'm sharing my Christmas Slasher Review today.

Since last Monday morning, I watched a few Christmas Slashers.

Last year, I only watched Silent Night, Bloody Night (1972) and the 2012 remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night.

On Monday morning, I watched Black Christmas (1974) and Tuesday I watched Christmas Evil (1980).

These Slashers have year gaps between them, and they will be reviewed in chronological order.

Just a quick reminder, I am somewhat biased against these Christmas Slashers mostly because I expected for them to actually frighten me.

1) Silent Night, Bloody Night Trailer (1972)

Theodore Gershuny's Silent Night, Bloody Night was originally released as Night Of The Dark Full Moon and is also known as Death House.

Silent Night, Bloody Night was filmed in 1972 but was shelved for 2 years. It was not until 1974 that the Slasher was released in the movie theaters. Silent Night, Bloody Night takes place on Christmas Eve 1950.

Wilfred Butler returns to his mansion only to discover that it was turned into a mental institution for the criminally insane.

That same day, Wilfred is shown running outside his mansion, while on fire soon collapsing to his supposed death in the snow. The towns people believe that Wilfred's death was accidental and his mansion is shut down.

About 22 years later, lawyer John Carter and his assistant Ingrid arrive in a small Massachusetts town. He meets with the town's nobles, Mayor Adams, Sheriff Bill Mason, Tess Howard, and Charlie Towman. John is revealed to be Jeffrey Butler's lawyer.

Jeffrey is Wilfred Butler's grandson. Jeffrey Butler tries selling the Butler mansion for $50,000 by noon the next day.

After John Carter calls his wife, it has been revealed that he is cheating on her with his ASSISTANT, Ingrid. John and Ingrid stay the night at the Butler mansion for dinner and sex. During sex, they are slaughtered in bed with an axe!

Then, the killer calls the police station's phone operator (Tess) in a low, muffled voice. The killer claims to be "Marianne."

Watching Silent Night, Bloody Night last December bored me. If memory serves me right, I started dosing off at my keyboard just watching it.

The film's trailer, dark and spooky night scenery, the voyeurism, music score, menacing phone calls, and Wilfred Butler's low, muffled voice were creepy. Otherwise, Silent Night, Bloody Night was very slow and boring.

2) Black Christmas Trailer (1974)

Bob Clark is best known for creating Porky's and A Christmas Story. Most don't know, that he created Black Christmas. The movie was originally titled Silent Night, Evil Night.

As a filmmaker, Bob Clark had versatility. Black Christmas was literally created 9 years before A Christmas Story. Those 2 Christmas movies were from completely different film genres, which is fascinating.

Black Christmas is revered as 1 of the original Christmas Slashers. Not only is this considered to be 1 of the original Christmas Slashers, but it also contributed to the launching of the Slasher Genre.

In fact, John Carpenter was inspired by Black Christmas, which is why Halloween exists today.

Silent Night, Evil Night (Black Christmas) takes place in a sorority house with promiscuous sorority girls preparing for Christmas Break. As they are having their Christmas Party, they start receiving strange and obscene phone calls. They automatically assume it's a prank caller.

All the while, Barb taunts their sorority sister, Clare for being a virgin. Clare becomes so annoyed with Barb's insults, that she goes to pack her clothes in her room. Suddenly, their housemother's meowing cat appears.

Clare starts hearing strange noises, is smothered to death from behind with a clothing bag, and is carried to the attic. Her corpse is later propped in the attic's rocking chair RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW! Supposedly, no one knows what happened to Clare. Her sorority assumes, that she is MISSING.

The characters in Black Christmas annoyed me. They are depicted as obnoxious, stupid, and morally depraved sorority girls, including the so-called "heroine," who wants to abort she and her boyfriend, Peter's baby.

After the harassing phone calls, tapping of the phone wires, and the investigation, no one caught the serial killer!

The movie's trailer, harassing phone calls, ominous film score, the red herring character (Peter), Billy's Doberman colored eyes peeping through the door, his hidden appearance, and the camera angles, pans, and zooms were all creepy. Otherwise, Black Christmas didn't frighten me. I was highly disappointed.

Gee, I guess "my skin IS on too tight."

3) Christmas Evil (1980)

This 1980 Christmas Slasher was originally released as You Better Watch Out and is also known as Terror In Toyland.

I could not help rolling my eyes, while laughing at this Christmas Slasher. Watching Christmas Evil was a joke! The YouTube vlogger, Dr. Wolfula does a better job at reviewing THIS movie than I could ever do without laughing hysterically behind my keyboard.

Dr. Wolfula's Christmas Evil Review (2010)

Harry, a deranged toymaker at Jolly Dreams wasted 33 YEARS of his life being traumatized over his daddy role playing as Santa Claus and I assume he watched some tongue action under his mommy's nightgown, then threw a tantrum and broke his snow globe only to cut himself? OMG! THIS IS TOO HILARIOUS FOR WORDS!!!

Was Daddy the so-called "Clit Commander" dressed as Santa on Christmas Eve?

Regardless, Harry's Santaphobia was and still is hilarious.

Had Christmas Evil's filmmaker been more clever with possibly showing Harry accidentally walking in on his mother moaning from mind shattering orgasms, during sex with his father, or if he witnessed his mother being beaten and/or raped, his trauma would've been MORE convincing and realistic. None of what I mentioned was shown in Christmas Evil.

If any of those situations could've been demonstrated to the audience without the child actor being on the set for the scene years ago, Harry's trauma would've been more convincing.

He became a deranged, mass murderer because Daddy was caressing Mommy's thigh under her nightgown, while being a CUNNING LINGUIST  in a Santa costume!

OH NO! I saw Daddy dressed as Santa Claus, while doing weird things under Mommy's nightgown by the Christmas Tree! So traumatizing! Now, I have SANTAPHOBIA!!!

Harry's bizarre behavior, his Santa memorabilia, the music score, and the film's trailer were the only creepy qualities about Christmas Evil. Watching Harry murder 3 church parishioning bullies in front of everyone on the stair steps made me laugh so hard, I cried hysterically.

That's besides him smothering and slitting his co-workers' throats with a knife, as well as flying into the moonlight like a scene out of E.T. with his SANTAMOBILE.

Harry may have been a creepy and deranged stalker taking on the constant roles of being Santa Claus, but overall, I just could NOT  take Christmas Evil seriously.

4) Silent Night, Deadly Night Trailer (1984)

The original Silent Night, Deadly Night was notorious for its controversial Slasher trailer 30 years ago. There were 3 Christmas Slashers, which existed years BEFORE Silent Night, Deadly Night was created. However, it was the most condemned and demonized.

Militant, Stay-At-Home Mommies and Christian zealots protested on the streets and literally called Tri-Star Films to have Silent Night, Deadly Night banned NATIONWIDE.

Siskel and Ebert persecuting the filmmaker contributed to Silent Night, Deadly Night's bannings from theaters after its 1st week. Here's something really interesting. Both A Nightmare On Elm Street and Silent Night, Deadly Night released on November 9, 1984.

Silent Night, Deadly Night outperformed A Nightmare On Elm Street; On the same day, it blew A Nightmare On Elm Street out the water!

My family claimed years ago, that parents took their children to watch it in the movie theaters. Other sources claimed, that the trailer was advertised, during times when children were watching TV.

After watching Silent Night, Deadly Night last week on Christmas morning, I was disappointed.

The opening for Silent Night, Deadly Night was phenomenal yet cheesy all at once. A little boy sang, as the movie's title rushed onto the screen with animated blood being splattered.

On Christmas Eve 1971, the 7-year-old Billy Chapman and his family go to visit his institutionalized grandfather. Billy's grandfather is supposedly "catatonic." The doctor escorts Billy's parents to review his grandfather's records.

Suddenly, Billy's grandfather traumatizes him about Christmas and Santa Claus. He starts telling Billy that Santa punishes naughty boys and girls.

After witnessing his "catatonic" grandfather's disturbing behavior, while hearing his grandfather's grisly secret about Christmas, Billy's Santaphobia is soon born.

Yes, Santaphobia really does exist. It's also a main contributor to Silent Night, Deadly Night's plot.

Billy was already traumatized by his grandfather and is soon subjected to more trauma.

Down the road, a robber dressed as Santa Claus robbed a liquor store, while shooting the clerk dead. That same robber kills Billy's father, shortly after.

The robber proceeds to rape Billy's mother and slits her throat with a knife. Once Billy witnesses this traumatic incident, he is placed in an orphanage where he is subjected to more trauma and physical abuse by Mother Superior.

Whenever Billy witnesses people having sex, he automatically views it as rape.

Witnessing a co-worker being raped by another co-worker, after being forced to dress as Santa Claus for work triggers Billy's serial killing spree.

I spent more time sympathizing and empathizing with Billy Chapman than any character.

Silent Night, Deadly Night's music score, highly misleading trailer, Billy's grandfather, the antique toy soldiers, and Santa Claus decorations creeped me out. Overall, this Christmas Slasher barely scared me; It didn't make me jump out my skin watching it.

I kept bracing myself for a scare, but the scares failed to deliver for me. I am starting to believe that I have become desensitized to Horror.

Then again, Silent Night, Deadly Night's trailer STILL manages to give me goosebumps even after watching the entire movie.

Seriously, how can trailers for Horror movies be more frightening than the actual movies? Does that make any sense?

Whoever put its movie trailer together should've made this highly controversial Christmas Slasher more appalling. All that outrage and protesting to have Silent Night, Deadly Night banned in '84 for NOTHING.

Talk about a HUGE disappointment.

5) Silent Night Trailer (2012)

OMG! This Christmas Slasher is nothing like the original Silent Night, Deadly Night. This remake doesn't even have a real story to it.

The serial killer's Santa Claus mask is frightening, whereas everything else is extremely contrived. I nearly fell off my bed from laughing hysterically at Silent Night, last Christmas Eve.

Watching the killer Santa literally tase that bratty 12-year-old pill popper to death still is hilarious and the best part of the entire movie.

I discussed Silent Night with my friend, Charlie JJ Kruger from Horror-Punks.com, 2 months ago. Charlie agreed with me about this Slasher being terrible. He is not lying. Silent Night was a Shit Sandwich.

Out of all 5 Christmas Slashers, Silent Night, Deadly Night is the best in my opinion and Black Christmas creeps behind it.

Even though neither Christmas Slasher frightened me, I believe casual viewers will be, especially for those who are easily scared of Horror.

Silent Night, Deadly Night is more convincing and has a better plot in regards to Billy Chapman's serial killing spree.

Meanwhile, Billy's entire physical appearance in Black Christmas (not to be confused with Billy Chapman) is never shown.

We only know that Black Christmas' Billy is a stalker/serial killer. That in itself is enough to scare people, since stalkers and serial killers really do exist.

If you happen to watch these Christmas Slashers (you can YouTube them all for free), let me know what you think!

SCREAM: The Inside Story

SCREAM Trailer (1996)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, LURKERS!!! As promised, I have 1 of SCREAM's recent documentaries.

Several times, I have heard that SCREAM revived not only the Slasher sub-genre, but also the Horror genre. During the early '90s, I had no idea that the Horror genre was on life support. It was probably because I was always watching Horror films and TV shows growing up.

After I recently learned, that most Horror films were sent directly to videotapes, I was surprised. Thank the media watchdog groups, Christian zealots, and movie critics such as Siskel and Ebert.

These self-righteous zealots always condemned and demonized movies by using them as scapegoats rather than blaming adults for not educating and parenting their own children.

The demonization led to Horror filmmakers sending their movies directly to video. Most Horror filmmakers did not want to be blamed every second for murders and attempted murders.

The media watchdog groups, Christian zealots, and ignorant movie critics FAIL to realize that SOME books, movies, and shows are created by writers, who are inspired by watching violent news reports.

Besides the fact, that Slashers have always been controversial, it has often been debated, who created the Slasher sub-genre. Most Horror buffs claim, that John Carpenter's 1978 film, Halloween gave birth to Slashers.

Some other buffs claim it was Alfred Hitchcock's Thriller, Psycho in 1960. However, Christmas Slashers launched, during the early 1970's; They were created 4-6 years, before the creation of Halloween.

Silent Night, Bloody Night was a 1972 Christmas Slasher, which sat on the shelf for 2 years. It wasn't released in the movie theaters, until 1974.

October 11, 1974, Canada released Bob Clark's Christmas Slasher, Silent Night, Evil Night.

Silent Night, Evil Night is also known as Stranger In The House and Black Christmas. Silent Night, Evil Night is mostly known as Black Christmas.

Just to let you know, Bob Clark was the exact same filmmaker, who created the 1983 movie, A Christmas Story. You know that movie TBS marathons every Christmas? Clark created those 2 movies literally 9 years apart from each other.

With that being said, Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho technically gave birth to Slashers in 1960 whereas Wes Craven revived the sub-genre by releasing SCREAM in 1996.

I reiterate that SCREAM not only revived Slashers, but also Horror in general, during the mid to late 1990's. I was only 14 years old, when the original SCREAM released in the movie theaters.

Every time I watched TV, the networks were always advertising different SCREAM commercials.

In fact, MTV advertised the Slasher, while Republica's music video for "Drop Dead Gorgeous" played in the background.

Republica "Drop Dead Gorgeous" SCREAM's Commercial Theme Song (1996)

Strangely enough, Republica did NOT make it onto the original SCREAM Soundtrack. Although, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" was played in the movie.

I have explained enough for the time being. Here's the documentary, SCREAM: The Inside Story.

SCREAM: The Inside Story (2011)

Since there will not be a Song Saturday blog tomorrow, I have a bonus song for you. It's another song that was actually on the original SCREAM Soundtrack.

Anyway, here's Sister Machine Gun's "Better Than Me."

Cartoon Sunday: Beavis and Butt-Head Shorts

How's it going lurkers? I happened to find 2 Beavis And Butt-Head shorts from 1992. I had no idea until now, that Beavis And Butt-Head had any shorts.

During middle school, I was that "weird girl," who watched this controversial cartoon. It was taboo in the 1990's for any girl to watch Beavis And Butt-Head because the characters were stupid, perverted, politically incorrect, violent, disgusting, had low IQ's, etc.

After conducting some research as a woman in her early 30's, I recently discovered that Beavis And Butt-Head was actually an adult cartoon much like Æon Flux and a few others.

They were adult cartoons on MTV's Liquid Television Animation block. Said MTV animation block was literally a decade before the launching of Adult Swim.

In 1993, I remember Pat Robertson from The 700 Club and media watchdog groups demonizing Beavis And Butt-Head for their violent behaviors and dangerous stunts.

Supposedly, a negligent mother used the cartoon as a scapegoat for why her 5-year-old arsonist sat their mobile home on fire. The fire resulted in his 2-year-old sister's death.

It was terrible what happened to that toddler. All the while, their neighbors said the family did NOT own any cable TV. Therefore, the dead toddler's careless mother not only smeared MTV's Beavis And Butt-Head, but she also wanted to act like she and her precious arsonist were victims.

Anytime a kindergartener intentionally sat his own house and baby sister on fire, chances were highly great, that he was NOT going to be any asset to society.

Careless parents and media watchdog groups' tendencies to demonize MTV's adult cartoon led to 2 different TV disclaimers.

Beavis And Butt-Head Disclaimer #1

Beavis And Butt-Head Disclaimer #2

During Beavis And Butt-Head's 5th season, the writers of the cartoon mocked media watchdog groups by making episode 114, "Lightning Strikes."

Beavis And Butt-Head's "Lightning Strikes" illustrated exactly how media watchdog groups smear, condemn, and demonize entertainment, in order to have something newsworthy and/or "trendy."

These media watchdog groups and Christian zealots can smear, condemn, and demonize Beavis And Butt-Head all they want.

The creator/voice actor, Mike Judge helped influence both South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Beavis And Butt-Head helped pave the way for most adult animation that exists on local AND cable networks today.

During the glory days of MTV, which was when the network still predominantly aired music television, most MTV viewers like moi LOVED Beavis And Butt-Head.

The characters were 2 illiterate, socially incompetent, juvenile delinquents that usually sat on a couch watching TV, while criticizing music videos.

My family sometimes watched Beavis And Butt-Head and laughed at their low IQ'ed antics with me.

There was an episode, which showed Butt-Head throwing a garbage can and it knocked Beavis unconscious, in his back yard. My mom laughed so hard, she cried tears that night. It was that hilarious.

As I became older, I met some teenagers, who sometimes made Beavis and Butt-Head look like complete geniuses. This is something appalling to believe but it is the awful truth.

Anytime 2 stupid cartoons characters appear to have higher IQ's than real life people, we CANNOT help rolling our eyes and face palming, while simultaneously laughing at them. Even though I am a 32-year-old woman, I still enjoy Beavis And Butt-Head 2 decades later.

If a man my age or a little older than me dares to say, "I'm so over this show. That was from years ago," you have my permission to pimp slap him across the face. That guy is acting like an absolutely pompous, piece of shit.

Beavis and Butt-Head could also out twerk Miley Cyrus. Come to think about it, Miley was only shitting in her diapers, when this adult cartoon premiered on MTV in 1993.

BTW:  Twerking was supposedly founded in 1982. It didn't become more popular, until the '90s and early 21st Century.

In the original Beavis And Butt-Head shorts from Liquid Television, there weren't any music videos. Music videos were only added to the cartoon, once it moved to MTV.

So, here are the 2 Beavis And Butt-Head shorts, "Frog Baseball" and "Peace, Love and Understanding" for Cartoon Sunday.

1) Beavis And Butt-Head "Frog Baseball" (1992)

2) Beavis And Butt-Head "Peace, Love and Understanding" (1992)

Who Remembers The Gremlins Audiobooks From Hardee's?

This blog was originally published October 1, 2013.

How's it going Blogsterians? I hope everybody doing well. Since it's October, I chose to share a throwback from nearly 30 years ago

If you existed in 1984 (I was only 2 years old), you may remember that Christmas Horror Comedy, Gremlins.

Gremlins Movie Trailer (1984)

It was 1 of the most controversial movies during 1984. Actually, 1984 in general was quite a controversial year regarding entertainment.

Democrat, Tipper GORE had a spazz attack about her precious 12-year-old daughter's music. Karenna was listening to Prince's "Darling Nikki" from his Purple Rain album.

Tipper was SO triggered that it led to her becoming the founder of Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) and having her "Tipper Stickers" (a.k.a. "Parental Advisory" labels) plastered, if not engraved into explicit album covers.

Also, the PG-13 rating was launched in 1984. Gremlins was highly controversial years ago because it originally had a PG rating.

Those of us, who watched the movie, already know it was a really violent for children in '84. There were many complaints about 1 of the gremlins being killed in the microwave. I can't remember his name. However, I remember that scene nearly 30 years later.

Gremlins Microwave Scene (1984)

If I were Billy's mother, I would've killed that gremlin in the microwave, too! Watching that as a PG-rated Horror Comedy was and STILL is terrifying. Their big, fugly eyes still give me goosebumps just staring at them.

Not only was there controversy over the violence in this PG-rated movie, but there were also complaints about Gremlins being racist against black people.

This was because gremlins ate fried chicken, wore snapback hats, breakdanced, and listened to Jazz and Blues in the bar.

Am I the only person laughing at such ridiculous claims?

Some people in 1984 read a little TOO much into Gremlins. Even though Gremlins triggered lots of controversy, it was still very popular in 1984.

The movie was so popular, that it had its own merchandise. YouTube vlogger, Andre (a.k.a. "Black Nerd") had a vlog in 2012 showing his display of Gremlins merchandise from both movies.

I am very disappointed to say, that vlog was deleted. I don't know why Andre's vlog was deleted from YouTube. Regardless, it sucks that his video is gone. I thought his vlog was awesome. Meanwhile...

I remember having a plastic Gizmo figure, when I was a toddler. As my mother pushed me around in store buggies, I played with him.

Decades ago, Hardee's sold a series of 5 audio tapes/45 record audiobooks, which were adaptations of the Gremlins movie.

I ONLY  had Part 3 of the 5 record audiobooks. Talk about nostalgia and showing my age. Because I mentioned the audiobooks and since someone actually uploaded them to YouTube, I thought I would share their audiobooks with you all.

Audiobook 1: Gremlins "The Gift Of The Mogwai" (1984)

Audiobook 2: Gremlins "Gizmo And The Gremlins" (1984)

Audiobook 3: Gremlins "Escape From The Gremlins" (1984)

Audiobook 4: Gremlins "Gremlins Trapped" (1984)
Audiobook 5: Gremlins "The Last Gremlin" (1984)
